Rainbows and Unicorns.
Hi everyone! Im from Texas originally (Go Cowboys!), but moved to Cincinasty in 4th grade. I went to Mariemont High School. I have 3 beautiful siblings and one on the way! One older sister, named Jennifer (who also goes to UC), a 12 year old sister, and a 7 year old brother. I was a cheerleader in highschool and I LOVE shopping. Ive never worked- how embarrassing. I want to be a Secondary Math Teacher, primarily because I adored math class in high school. I tutored in highschool and had lots of experience teaching to my stuffed animals in 3rd grade.

Standards Reflection:

Standard 5: Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership

This standard is explaining the need for teachers to constantly be learning. Technology is changing everyday. Whether it be a new discovery or a more efficient variation, technology is constantly being changed or altered. With this in mind, teachers need to be up to date on this technology. If the students know more about current technology than the teacher, students wont view the teacher as a gateway to new knowledge. It is important that teachers can provide this new information to their students. To acheive this, teachers should go to workshops or seminars to see new technology available to use in the classroom. I agree with this standard and think that all teachers should be able to demonstrate new types of technology. In our class this quarter we have definitely learned how this is important. We have all learned about new websites, or tools to download that can make our classroom a more developed place. The first day of class, we discussed what technology we have been introduced to thus far. Throughout the quarter we have all learned about new technology and how important it will be for us to continue learning throughout our career.

Standard 3: Model Digital-Age Work and Learning

This standard illustrates the need for teachers to be up to date on technology. We have absolutely discussed this in Computer Tools for Teachers this quarter. We have learned about the importance of being current with the quickly changing technology world. We have also been introduced to new technology and helpful websites that we should use as teachers. As teachers, we are responsible for being a facilitator of knowledge to students. This however, does not just stop at our content area. The world is advancing with new and improved ways to function daily with technology, so as teachers it is our responsibility to incorporate these into our lesson plans. If we can achieve the following we truly have reached our goal as a teacher:

a. demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations

b. collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success

and innovation

c. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats

d. model and facilitate effective use of current

Standard 1: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity

This standard ensures a successful classroom. In Computer Tools for Teachers this quarter, we have definitely discussed this standard fully. This standard to me is an example of a constructivist classroom. Using constructivism to better the classroom was one of our major focuses this quarter. As teachers, we are responsible for providing the best learning experience possible. To do this, we must promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking, like the standard suggests. In a constructivist environment this is exactly what happens. Students become the teachers, which then requires the students to fully understand the subject matter. An interactive situation is one of the best ways to teach. Applying these constructivist ideas and this standard will ensure all students grow to fully understand what is being taught.
